Description
The Yukon XC Mountain Bike Championships is a territorial race event that we will use to identify interested athletes for the Canada Summer Games. The next Canada Summer Games is to be held in Niagra, Ontario in August 2022.
Although it’s a race intended for youth athletes, this event is open to anyone. Adults are welcome and encouraged to participate!
The course will be a variety of Mt McIntyre's prime singletrack trails including challenging ascents and descents.

Course details
- We start and finish at Fireweed Junction on the Whitehorse Cross-Country Ski Club trails. If you're not familiar with this area, go to the end of Calypso Canyon. The start will be in this vicinity
- Trails will include Rebirth, Calypso Canyon, Reimer Reason and several others in a multi-lap format. View the Strava segment
- The 2.86km course is designed to take about 1 to 1.5 hours for fast riders to complete
- Younger participants will ride 4 laps and older participants will ride 6 laps
- Start time: 11 a.m.
- Mandatory riders meeting: 10:30 a.m. at Fireweed Junction

COVID-19 safety
We will be following the latest guidance from the Government of Yukon.
- Everyone who attends must wear a mask and keep 6 feet of distance from others
- Participants can remove their mask at the start line, and after completing the event must put their mask back on
- Hand sanitizer and cleaning will be provided
- Do not share bottles or food
- Participants will leave with staggered starts, 1 minute apart in groups of no more than 10

Event will be timed.
Location
Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club, 1 Sumanik Drive. Meet us at Fireweed Junction. If you’re not familiar with this area, go to the end of Calypso Canyon. The start will be in this vicinity.
Don’t know how to get to Fireweed Junction?
Meet us in the Ski Stadium (next to the portable at the end of the Canada Games Centre parking lot) at 9:45 a.m. to ride to the start together.
Cost
Adults (17 and older) are free ($0). You need a CAY membership ($45) to participate.
Youth (under 17) are free ($0). You need a CAY membership ($30) to participate.
