Description

Join Team Yukon's top female athlete in Road and Mountain Bike Juliet Crowe for a mountain bike workshop for girls, non-binary, and trans youth aged 12 - 15.  Juliet will be working with PMBIA certified coaches Kate White and Christine Prescott to teach fundamental biking skills and improve confidence on the bike!

This workshop is FREE with an annual Cycling Association of Yukon Community Membership ($40) and includes a morning snack and late lunch.

Itinerary

Saturday, May 30th

  • 9:15-9:50 AM- Set up
  • 10:00 AM- Participants arrive
  • 10:00-10:30 AM - Ice breaker activities
  • 10:30-11:30 AM- 3 different stations working on skills (general bike handling, physical literacy)
  • 11:30 AM- 12:15 PM- Group ride
  • 12:30 - 1:00 PM- Relay race (fun window into competition)
  • 1:00 - 2:00 PM- Lunch, prizes, talk from Juliet

What your participant needs:

Equipment:

Participants will need their own bike with front suspension, two working brakes and a fully functioning drivetrain along with a well-fitting, good quality helmet.

Skills:

Participants must have basic experience with mountain biking or road cycling and be able to ride standing up while rolling and pedaling. Expect to learn the fundamental skills of bike control while beginning to apply them to the trail and bike skills parks.

The Cycling Association of Yukon is committed to reducing barriers to entry in the sport. If equipment (bike/helmet) or cost are a barrier, please reach out to info@yukoncycling.com and we will find a solution.
