Join all star fat biker and cycling enthusiast Jessie Gladish for two days of fat biking fun in Dawson City! You’ll be treated to group rides along the Yukon River and snowy singletrack in the local mountains.

For $100 ($75 until December 15th!) participants will get:

• A 2027 CAY Community Membership for 2027* (aka your insurance and access to all non-competitive CAY events for the season)
• A discount on flights with Air North, Yukon’s Airline from Whitehorse to Dawson City and back
• Warm, indoor, and secure bike storage for the weekend at the Klondike Visitor Center
• Two full days of biking in Dawson City on marked, packed, and groomed trails led by ultra-athlete and super-person Jessie Gladish. One day of hard work followed by shuttle assisted laps
• Free Midnight Dome shuttle laps on Sunday, January 24 from 9 am - 2:30 pm provided by Klondike Experience
• Free snacks and beverages at aid stations during the rides
• First come, first served availability for rental bikes
• Some TBD goodies and discounts from other local merchants!

Friday, January 22

• Drive your own vehicle or take an Air North, Yukon’s Airline flight in the morning or afternoon from Whitehorse to Dawson City.

Saturday, January 23

• 10 am to 12 pm: Participant check-in and package pick-up at Dawson City Visitor Information Centre (VIC), 1102 Front Street (at King Street).
• 10:15 am: Mandatory riders meeting at the VIC.
• 12 pm: Group ride event starts at VIC. You can choose to ride the full course or half the distance. Snacks and drinks will be served at aid stations.
• 5 pm. Course closes. (With flexibility! Sweepers will be at the back of the pack supporting those who need more time)
• 6 - 8 pm: Group dinner out in Dawson with draw prizes

Sunday, January 24

• 9 am: Group ride event starts at Dawson City Visitor Information Centre (VIC), 1102 Front Street (at King Street). Free shuttle up the Midnight Dome. Details will be shared at riders meeting on January 17.
• ***Anyone flying with Air North should make sure that they are paying attention to when their flight leaves! Arrange with your chosen hotel for a shuttle departing to the airport... If you can take Monday off work, bonus: even more laps and no need to rush!**
• 2 pm to 3 pm: Last lap up at ~2 pm then course closes.  Drop off your fat bike by 3 pm at the Dawson VIC so it can be returned to Whitehorse by truck the following week.

FAQ

What's up with the event name, Fat Bike Blues?

January in Dawson City means cold weather and a blue winter haze that can be seen in every direction and we also wanted to help people beat the winter blues by getting outside and having some fun! The trails we're riding being blue is certainly a nice coincidence, as well.

Bike Rentals

Bike Rentals are available on a first-come, first served basis from City of Dawson and Icycle Sports. Contact Jessie directly to rent one.

• City of Dawson has four bikes to rent out.
• Icycle has six rental bikes available for the event.  Keep in mind that bikes rented from Icycle must be delivered to our ground transportation partner by Wednesday, January 20th before 5 pm to make it to Dawson in time.  Contact us if you need a hand with getting your bike there.
